Advantages of Toroidal Power Transformers

  Toroidal transformers offer many advantages. It provide high efficiency, quiet with very low magnetic fields. Their small size and weight support a package that is easy to design into your products.

High Efficiency

  The toroidal cores are constructed of a continuously wound ribbon, there is virtually no air gap. The windings are evenly wrapped over the entire core allowing the transformer to operate at a higher flux density. The magnetic flux of the windings which ensures that all grains are in the magnetic direction , thus achieving very high electrical efficiencies.

Low Magnetics Field

  Toroidal cores absence of an air gap that it is quieter than other transformers. In addition the windings tightly envelope the entire core, effectively reducing magnetostriction. Toroidal transformers radiate about 1/10 the magnetic field of EI transformers because of the inherent efficiency and unique construction .The toroidal transformers especially suitable for applications in HiFi systems, medical equipment.

Flexible Dimensions

  Another mechanical benefit of toroidal transformers is their flexible dimensions. The height and diameter can be varied to accommodate the application. This means that 300VA toroids can be used in single rack height equipment, where EI transformers never can.

Step 1. Choose your input voltage

    Choose the input voltage: 100V, 120V, 208V, 220V, 230V, 240V, 277V or other
 

Step 2. Choose your operating frequency

    For North America is 60 Hz.
For Europe is 50 Hz.
A transformer designed for 50 Hz will also work at 60 Hz but a transformer designed for 60 Hz will not work at 50 Hz.
